There’s no better place to experience the magic of an autumn night than at the spooky Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze in Hudson Valley, New York, which was for sure one of the most memorable experiences that I did in New York during 2019.
Everything on that night was incredible since when I left my house. The sky was very foggy, the weather was humid and cold, but not cold enough to break the magic. I was on my way to the pumpkin spectacle with a feeling that I was living in a dream.
When I arrived there I was wowed, the place was unique and breathtaking with a display of more than 7,000 illuminated hand-carved Jack O’Lanterns that lighted up the night. It’s worth the trip!
It was an electrifying night, the attention to all the details of how the pumpkins were designed was brilliant and extraordinary. Between all the attractions I walked by – a Pumpkin Carousel, Windmill, trains, skeletons, dinosaurs, snakes, and even a Pumpkin Planetarium for a star show like you’ve never seen, a 25-foot-tall jack O’lantern Statue of Liberty, an Instagrammable signs of the zodiac (Guilty) and much much more.
They have select dates during the week and on weekends.
This always during September, October, and November.
Adult tickets are $22 (Fri–Sat $27)
Children 3-17 are $16 (Fri-Sat $20)
Hudson Valley Members or children under the age of three attend for free
This one-of-a-kind event is not to be missed!
How to get there:
You can use public transportation since this location is so close to New York City. The Hudson Line on the Metro-North will take you to Croton-Harmon station. From there, you can walk or take a cab to the estate. The walk is only about 10 minutes, and the entire trip takes about an hour.
* All proceeds from Blaze and the other Halloween events support the programs of Historic Hudson Valley, a non-profit education organization.
